New YUI

May 10th, 2006 | by Will |

Yahoo! has announced a new rev of the Yahoo! User Interface library. I’ve already thought of an innovative use for the windowing controls, which must remain sekrit for now. Safari died a spectacular death when testing out the AutoComplete feature, though. I guess that’s one reason they’re still calling it a beta test.
I really wish I’d had this library available when I did the NASA mission planning interface.

    Hey Will,

Thanks for the coverage of our YUI Library release. That you’ve already found a use for the windowing stuff is what keeps us motivated; I’m looking forward to your unveiling.

Community makes our code stronger. It’s a key reasons we’re so eager to share it with everybody. Therefore, though we try to keep on eye on comments wherever they are, it would be great if you’d file a bug report against this component on our product page on SourceForge (see below). As with all bug reports, detailed information about your environment as well as clear steps to reproduce the issue are very welcome.

Finally, I want to point out that Safari is a first-class citizen in our eyes. I’ve written about our browser support philosophy here: http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/articles/gbs/gbs.html, and there’s a detailed chart linked from the appendix of that article. YUI is intended to work as advertised on all A-Grade browsers, as defined in those documents.

    Here’s our main SourceForge page:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/yui

And here’s the bug entry form:
    https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=add&group_id=165715&atid=836476

Thanks again for your interest and help,
    Nate

Yeah, when _is_ Safari coming out of beta? :)
